The Paychex HR Online Glossary includes Paychex HR Online terms and definitions for:

Compa-Ratio

A read-only field located in HR Admin | Employee Compensation | Salary that represents the relation of an employee’s pay rate in comparison to the salary midpoint of the employee’s assigned pay grade.

EEO

An acronym for the Equal Employment Opportunity government commission. EEO classifications can be assigned to employee records in HR Admin | Employee Information | EEO.

E-Mail Preferences

A table containing a list of all available e-mail notifications available for a particular user. Placing a checkmark next to an event item in the table turns on the e-mail notification for the user. Modify e-mail preferences in HR Admin | Employee Information | E-Mail Preferences and employee | Security | E-Mail Preferences.

E-Mail Setup

A company level mechanism of all available e-mail notification types. Placing a checkmark next to an item in the table turns the e-mail notification on for all users with appropriate access. This screen is located in HR Setup | Security | E-Mail Setup.

eServices Support Bulletins

A type of notification to Paychex HR Online users with supervisor or administrator level access, from the Paychex HR Online Service Center, regarding application enhancements and scheduled maintenance. If an eServices Support Bulletin is available, it displays on the main screen on the HR Admin tab.

Independent Contractor

The label in the Paychex HR Online application for any individual classified as a 1099 worker (independent contractor). This classification can be set for an individual employee record in HR Admin | Employee Information | Demographics.

LOA

An acronym for Leave of Absence. LOA dates and reasons can be assigned to employee records in HR Admin | Employee Compensation | Status/Position.

Location

A drop-down menu available to assign location information to an employee’s record when multi-establishment reporting is necessary. This field is located in HR Admin | Employee Compensation | Status/Position. The available options for the Location drop-down menu can be modified in HR Setup | Company Setup | List Setup.

Notifications

A feature that provides supervisors and administrators with information regarding events that occurred with regard to an employee’s records, or completed employee requests still pending approval. Examples are Time-Off Requests and Reminders. Notifications display in the HR Admin tab.

PTO

An acronym for Paid Time Off. PTO information can be found/assigned to employee records in HR Admin | Employee Information | Attendance/Time-Off.

Performance Log

A text field in which supervisors/administrators can enter information/notes regarding an employee’s performance during the year. This performance log can be referenced or printed to assist with the completion of a performance review for the employee. This log is located in HR Admin | Performance Management | Performance Log.

Performance Notice

A template in Paychex HR Online used to create written performance warnings for employees. These can be completed in HR Admin | Performance Management | Performance Notice and viewed by the employee in My Info | Performance | Performance Notices.

Time-Off Summary

This portion of the Paychex HR Online “Attendance/Time-Off” screens displays the time-off balance and accrual. These accruals display as read-only in HR Admin | Employee Information | Attendance/Time-Off.
